Today's urban nature walk was at Bussey Brook Meadow Urban Wild, which is part of the Arnold Arboretum. Led by [livejournal.com profile] urbpan, only two others showed up, but we had a very nice ramble. We saw lots of interesting insects and wildflowers, snails, birds, and fungi.

It's been a while since I've been to the Arboretum, so I was glad to see parts of it I've never seen. It's been one of my favorite places for over 20 years. I used to live right down the street from it, and have spent a lot of time there. It's where I first became interested in nature photography.

I took a nap this afternoon, because I've been unable to sleep in this weekend, and I had the most intense, cinematic dream. It featured a homicidal, shape-shifting female cop. I had to write the whole thing down when I woke up, because it really was like a little movie. Except I didn't get to see the ending, because I woke up. I guess I'll have to write it.

the year stretches ahead, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

We got our new 2011 desktop calendars today, and I thought this made a fitting metaphor for the coming year, stretching out ahead and yet unknown.

The calendars are small, about the size of a ruler. I like the way my camera focused on it. I'm still having fun finding out what it can do, this camera.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to see whether it can capture a lunar eclipse; as said eclipse will be happening in the way wee hours, and it may be cloudy anyway, I don't think I'll be seeing this one. I will, however, be paying attention to my dreams. A Solstice eclipse is a powerful thing, and my dreams have been quite intense lately, anyway.

I dreamed a few days ago about an exhibit of the Swords of Wayland, which no one but me wanted to go see. I woke up before I made it to the exhibit, but over the weekend I watched the Robin of Sherwood episodes called "The Swords of Wayland" to see if there were clues. It was about calling Lucifer, the Lord of Light. Swords, light, balance, eclipse. Powerful, and yet subtle, stuff.

I think it will be important to stay mindfully grounded tomorrow. All this cosmic energy might have me floating around in my cubicle if I don't! ;)

I just made a post over at my photo blog, of some of the more artsy flowery pix I took at camp.

(And a reminder that you can sign up for the feed here)

I took a nap this afternoon, and had the weirdest of weirdass dreams ever. It took a whole page of my notebook to write it down, and I'm sure that I missed several bits. My brain is obviously still processing my week at camp! *g*

Today was much busier than yesterday, and therefore went by much faster. Actually, it was kind of crazy. Sort of a delayed reaction to the full moon, I suppose. Trying to get anybody to do anything was nearly impossible. People who sigh and roll their eyes when I ask them to do something simple that's *their job* to do really make me cranky.

*deep breath*

At least I had a yummy corned beef sandwich and [livejournal.com profile] jimhines' Stepsister Scheme at lunchtime to distract me. (Good book, BTW; it gets the LizzieBelle seal of approval for kick-ass heroines)

I'm still suffering sleep-cycle wonkiness from the time change, and I think I need to go to bed early tonight. It still feels like I'm getting up at 5:00 a.m. I had some weird-ass dreams last night! I'm not sure if it was from extreme tiredness, the full moon, or just my subconscious playing games with me, but I woke up a couple of times thinking, huh???

I haven't been sleeping well (again) lately, and today I have a headache that even Advil won't make go away. There's a kink in my shoulder/neck which is probably causing (or at least exacerbating) the headache, and I'm looking forward to getting home and heating up the microwave heating pad to ease it a bit. :P

If you enjoyed the Prop 8 movie I posted yesterday, and have cable, Jack Black and the director will be on Countdown tonight (8:00 on MSNBC). They actually showed the whole film on the show last night. I'm sure it will be available on their website soon, probably tomorrow, if you don't have cable (or have other plans for 8:00). I might not be in the mood for watching TV tonight (shocking, I know) if this headache doesn't go away...

I was having a cool dream this morning just before the alarm went off. I was driving on a highway that was right next to the shore, and on the left was a series of waterfalls surrounded by amazing greenery. I was trying to get over to a rest stop to take pictures (even in my dreams, I'm a photographer!) when the radio alarm woke me up. The rest stop was really cool, too - it had a huge stone wall draped with greenery blocking it off from the road. I would like to see how those pictures came out. :)

I am so hot today, I'm sizzling! My bosses are very happy with me today. I got a new political advertiser, and he bought half back pages in both zones. Wheee! My big HMO customer just bought three more full page ads, too. If this keeps up, I will be the #1 salesperson this month! Right now, I'm at #3. I'm actually going to get a bonus next month! That hasn't happened in a long time.

*****

It was only a matter of time before it happened... I've started speaking LOLspeak in my dreams. I had a very strange and convoluted dream this morning, in which a band in a parade was playing the LizzieBelle Song. After the parade, I told a friend, "I has a song!" *g*

*****

Also: I have eyeballs on my desk.

Very busy all morning, up to and past the deadline. Why do people wait until the very last minute? Even I'm not that bad. *g*

Feeling somewhat better today; the awful cramps are gone, but I have all the symptoms of a urinary tract infection. Oh, joy. At least I still have some of the medicine I bought the last time, which turns my pee an alarming orange color. I keep thinking that I could dye eggs in it. At least it helps. Instead of agony, I'm just uncomfortable.

No specific plans for the weekend, thank goodness. I have the "final cut" of Blade Runner from Netflix, which I'm looking forward to. It's been many years since I've seen any version of this movie, so I don't know if I'll notice all the changes.

Also, Sunday is supposed to be a spectacular day, so I'm looking forward to getting outside and enjoying some sunshine. I can't believe it's almost April already!

I was having a dream about Captain Jack Sparrow before the alarm went off this morning. He was trying to pillage a building where I was attending a lecture, and I was trying to thwart him. I had just hacked the ropes holding up the gates when I was awakened by NPR. Heh.

Have a lovely weekend, all!

Why is it that the week before a long weekend always seems to drag? Always. It's so annoying. Besides being crazy from the server meltdown, it's been a pretty productive week. I've had lots of new ads come in. The ad fairy has blessed me this week.

I had an odd dream this morning, in which I was at a sort of retreat with a bunch of people who seemed familiar, but I don't know them in real life. [livejournal.com profile] pkmorrison was there too, and I was searching for her book so she could sign it. I knew I had it somewhere, but it was eluding me. Of course, this has nothing to do with the plans I'd made for this weekend, of sorting through and packing up some of my stuff, including books. *g*

I had thought of maybe taking Tuesday off, but I think I'll save it and take another long weekend later on. Or maybe even a day off in the middle of the week, just for the heck of it. It's nice to have that option. :)

I had (another) dream about Neil Gaiman this morning... this time, he was really short (I remember thinking he reminded me of Davy Jones (of Monkees fame) in the dream), and we were talking about blood orange cocktails. Also, there were kittens. Lots of them. Tiny, tiny kittens. Weird, but then that's my subconscious for you.

Here at the salt mines, I'm doing more than my share of good deeds for people today. I've had at least three people tell me I'm wonderful, just for finding what it was they needed. That made me feel good. It's nice to be appreciated for one's efforts. And really, I didn't mind. They were all nice. :)

My sleep cycle is still off, and I won't have the weekend to recover because it's my family reunion. Yes, I will be back in NY, just four days after leaving. It'll be good to see the cousins, aunts & uncles. We'll have to see what whacky cousin Freddie will do this year. *g*

I spent too much time reading last night, and not enough getting stuff done, so tonight is going to be a rush to get it all accomplished. I have to clean my bathroom (my mother will be in it tomorrow!), pack, and neaten up the pile of camping equipment in my living room so I won't be mortified in front of my family. Sheesh. Maybe I can throw some of it in the car for the weekend. Hey, now there's a thought!

I'm sure that by the end of the week, I'll be glad for Daylight Saving Time. It'll be light out for an hour after I get home from work, which is cheering.

I don't really see it as losing an hour of sleep, since I sleep until I wake up on Sundays. It's really more an issue of losing an hour of Sunday.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it throws off my sleep patterns, which are already screwy. I had trouble getting to sleep last night, which was compounded by the fact that it was an hour later, according to the clock.

I was having a very bizarre dream this morning, having to do with trying to take a shower while squirrels lobbed things through the window at me. What is it with those squirrels?

The pic is from yesterday; I was looking at this lovely sunset all the way home, and the view is from the parking lot behind my apartment. Those trees are in the cemetery next door. I caught the very end of the glory. :)

Today was a restful day. I even took a nap, because I was up way too early, as usual. Went to CVS and the grocery store, and made mini-meatloaves for supper and for later. I believe I have perfected my recipe: it was delicious! Adding a few dashes of worcestershire sauce is the secret. It's even better than mum's, which is saying something.

I had some bizarre dreams this morning. In the last one I remember before waking, Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz were covering me in chocolate and then licking it off. I get Johnny Depp, but Penelope Cruz? Where the heck did that come from?! I can think of several actresses off the top of my head that I wouldn't mind eating chocolate off me, and she's really not one of them. Maybe it's the accent; I've always been a sucker for accents. *g*
