pleasant garden, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

It's been too hot to go walking at lunch or after work all week, so I got up at five this morning (oh yes, I did!) and walked down to the park and woods. It was nice and cool, and quiet (if a bit buggy). It was also cloudy; not great conditions for pictures, but I took some anyway. Because I'm me. *g*

Of course, it's back to being sunny and hot, so I'm hiding out in the batcave for the afternoon. And of course I took a nap.

I went to see the new (and last) Harry Potter after work yesterday. I'd planned to see the 5:30 show, but since it was slow I left early, and made it in time for the 5:00 3D showing. Spoilers below!

thoughts about the movie )

If you've seen the other seven, and enjoyed them, it's worth seeing. The 3D is mostly gimmicky; it feels like they did it because they felt they had to, rather than to enhance the story.

If you've seen it, what did you think? Beware, possible spoilers in the comments!

I was happy to find this in the mail when I got home:

I'd had a gift certificate to Amazon from the survey place, so I treated myself. I really needed a treat. :)

moist, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

It never did rain here today, despite the forecast. Flowers at the cemetery were nonetheless dewy. It was a weird sort of morning, not quite misty and not quite sunny, but a little bit of both. I saw a black dog by itself running through the cemetery, and did not take it as an omen. Professor Trelawney would disagree, I am sure. As it ran from me when I called it, I am certain it was not the Grim. Also, it was wearing a pink collar.

After finishing four loads of laundry, I walked down to the library as it continued not to rain. I now have lots of clean turtlenecks and leggings, and HP #5 on CD.

I went to the store to pick up sweet potatoes and a few other items, and it was blessedly not busy there. I think I caught it between the after-schoolers and the after-workers.

One more workday to get through, then I am off for four whole days. Sounds good to me.

Spring in November, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

This has been the weirdest year ever. All sorts of things blooming out of season. Today, it was the cherry trees at Amelia Park.

I went to a late matinée of the new Harry Potter. Yeah, I couldn't wait until Tuesday. I liked it a lot. It follows the book much more closely than the previous films. You really get a sense of the despair and desperation of Harry, Hermione and Ron. I cannot wait to see what they do with Part 2. I think we may have to leave camp to go see it next July.

coolest shoes evar, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

'Tis been a long week. It's starting to slow down, as winter is our slowest season. Still, there always seems to be tons to do. Especially since the new management strategy seems to be "Treat them like Kindergartners and give them lots of busy work, for which they will get stars." No really, we get star stickers. But! If we forget to bring our star sheets to the sales meeting, we don't get them. I just love being treated like I'm five. *rolls eyes*

We got gift cards for Armata's (local grocery) for Thanksgiving, and I went there on my lunch hour today. I got a chicken pie (theirs is the best), some nice smoked gouda, some of their amazing brownies, and a ciabatta bread with olive oil & sea salt. Nice and comforting.

I was thinking of going to see the new Harry Potter flick tonight, but on further reflection, I think going opening night would be a bad idea. I hate crowds, and theatres full of kids. I think I'll go to a matinee on Tuesday, when the little tykes are in school. That sounds like a much saner strategy. I really want to see it, but not badly enough to put up with boisterous crowds.

Next week should be an easy one: I only have to work Monday and Wednesday. Yippee.

fly away, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

I went out for two long walks today, enjoying the lovely weather. Who knows how many more nice days we'll have this year?

wandering about )

I've found that listening to audiobooks as I walk keeps me from getting too much in my head, which helps keep the anxiety at bay. That's a good thing. I'm working my way through the Harry Potter series again, in preparation for the new movie (which opens in five days!). There are just so many fun little touches in the books that don't make it into the films. What an amazing imagination JK Rowling has!

Here's the new trailer for the next Harry Potter movie, which was supposed to be opening this month, but I'm not bitter:

They have the new Harry Potter 6 trailer up! Woo! I'm still extremely pissed that it's not coming out until next year. Grrr!

They're delaying the release of the next Harry Potter movie to next July. Hmph! Apparently it's due to the lack of summer releases because of the writers' strike, and nothing to do with the movie itself. Well, poo! I was all excited to be seeing it in November. :P

I stopped at the grocery store on the way home for a couple of things, and they had a display of Halloween candy out already. Sheesh! It's just too early. And that candy is going to be stale by Halloween...

For all you Flickr-ites: they're doing another 24 Hours of Flickr next Friday. They've created a group: Flickr 888. They'll be choosing pix from the group to use as Moo postcards. Cool!

Happy birthday today to Harry Potter! Oh yeah, and J.K. Rowling, too. *g* Let's see... Harry would be, what? 28? Whoa. Little Harry, all growed up.
