My 13-year-old niece, Willow, IM'd me earlier and asked if I'd watched Smallville tonight. Well, of course I watched it, and it struck me as funny that I was chatting online with a teenager about it. The mind, it boggles.

I knew it was going to be Jonathan that was going to die. There were plenty of clues. Putting Lana's accident on the commercials was a red herring. I really didn't think they'd kill Chloe twice. They can't kill Lex or Lois (what did the creators of Superman have about the letter L?) because they show up in the later stories. And Jonathan did die in the movie, although I don't know about the comics. It was logical. To tell the truth, I was getting kind of tired of his stubborness and pontificating.

I like the little nods they give to the Superman mythos, like Lois saying she'd be happy to have someone as honorable as Clark in her life. They use music well in the show, too. I loved the Peter Gabriel during the funeral.

It was a sad episode, and I'm surprised they didn't wait for sweeps to show it. Makes me wonder what else they have in store!

OK, time for bed. Sweet dreams, all!
