springing
It is finally spring here in New England! I found crocuses coming up along the bike trail the other day:
Yesterday, I went to the wildlife refuge, where the ice is finally gone.
There was still a bit of snow here and there on the trails, but I came across a turtle on one of the paths. He immediately went into his shell.
But I waited patiently, and eventually he came out of his shell, bit by bit.
Then he crossed the path, where I waited for him to make it to the other side so a bicycler wouldn't come along and hit him.
I also found a wasp nest on the ground, blown down over the winter.
Someone built a tipi out of downed branches.
Even the chipmunks are happy winter is over at last.
Today, I went to Gates Pond, which is also ice-free and mostly rid of snow.
I saw some birds that I at first thought were loons, but turned out to be Common Mergansers.
When I got home, I found more crocuses waiting for me, and my daffodils are coming up.
Yay, spring!
