in search of spring

lizziebelleI have been in dire need of some spring, so on my way back from mom's today, I stopped at the Arnold Arboretum, hoping to find some signs.
The sun had disappeared, but it was still fairly mild. I found snowdrops popping up beneath the bare trees, and most of the snow was gone. One adorable little girl in a princess dress found the trees irresistible.
I found a couple of trees that were ahead of the curve.
The pussy willows were a little past prime, but still photogenic.
There were robins everywhere. This fat little guy sat still while I circled him, looking for the best angle.
At the end of the Willow Trail, I came across a group of elves getting ready for a photo shoot.
The gal in the rust-colored outfit was donning a crown of antlers, and at least one of the assistants had pointy ears. I just smiled and kept on walking.
By then, it had started raining lightly so I headed back to the car and home. My spirit has been lifted by the little signs of spring I found in one of my favorite places. Hopefully spring will come for real, and soon!
