whoa!

There's a state of emergency in my city because of the flooding. I didn't know until I got home and turned on the news. Fortunately, the route I take to get home was fine; it's the other three routes into/ out of town that are affected. Parts of Westfield are pretty low, and we're surrounded by rivers, but where I live is pretty high up and far from water. I'm feeling pretty lucky right now.

I've been wondering about you. I'm glad you're home safe. I talked to a couple of our friends as they were headed home through Westfield and they had a hell of a time driving through. Judging from the news video you're going to be soggy for awhile to come.

The worst area is Route 20 heading toward West Springfield. I'm not anywhere near there, and I come home through Southwick. I used to go through there, but now I take the scenic (and dry!) route.

Thanks for thinking of me! :)

yup, they were coming back via route 20 from the west headed for the pike

Eek! That road was closed. And under several inches of water. Glad I don't live down that way!

I am so stealing your icon.

:-)

Glad you got home safe.

Steal away! I did. ;)

I'm glad, too. It's probably a good thing I didn't know how bad it was before setting out.

You are really lucky to be on the one route that isn't messed up!

A couple of years ago, there was a microburst in our neighborhood right at the evening rush hour. I had stopped at the grocery store before going home, and normally it would only take me another 5 minutes tops to get home from there, but I ended up driving around at least 20 minutes all over Millis because 4 out of the 5 "short cut" streets that lead to my house were blocked by downed trees and power lines. The only way left had *part* of a tree lying on it. That was a creepy experience!

Wow! I have firsthand experience with microbursts, and they are not fun. Especially if you are camping. :O

Oh -- I remember hearing about that. It really sounded pretty scary.
