whoa!

There's a state of emergency in my city because of the flooding. I didn't know until I got home and turned on the news. Fortunately, the route I take to get home was fine; it's the other three routes into/ out of town that are affected. Parts of Westfield are pretty low, and we're surrounded by rivers, but where I live is pretty high up and far from water. I'm feeling pretty lucky right now.

You are really lucky to be on the one route that isn't messed up!

A couple of years ago, there was a microburst in our neighborhood right at the evening rush hour. I had stopped at the grocery store before going home, and normally it would only take me another 5 minutes tops to get home from there, but I ended up driving around at least 20 minutes all over Millis because 4 out of the 5 "short cut" streets that lead to my house were blocked by downed trees and power lines. The only way left had *part* of a tree lying on it. That was a creepy experience!

Wow! I have firsthand experience with microbursts, and they are not fun. Especially if you are camping. :O

Oh -- I remember hearing about that. It really sounded pretty scary.
