in which I finally see flowers
Yesterday was another spectacular Saturday here in the frozen north, and as I was debating where I wanted to go to enjoy the day, the Arnold Arboretum popped into my head. I love that place, but it's an hour drive and I really didn't want to drive that far. But I couldn't think of anywhere else I wanted to go more, so I hopped in the car and made the trek into Boston.
I'm oh so glad I did!
There is still plenty of snow on the grass there, and the trees are still bare, but I found signs of spring all over the place.
I also discovered how amazing the close-up setting on my camera is. Holy cow.
I also saw a redtail hawk, which took off as I tried to take its picture, but landed in a nearby tree so I could get a portrait.
Just before I left, I posted on Facebook where I was heading and invited folks to meet me there if they so desired.

By then it had started clouding up and getting windy anyway, so I was glad I got there when I did so I could enjoy the sunshine along with hundreds of other people out enjoying the bounty that is the Arboretum.
In a month and a half there will be lilacs there, and I intend to go back and enjoy them thoroughly. Any and all are welcome to join me, so locals let me know if you want to join the expedition!
This taste of spring was just what I needed. It's been such a long winter.

Glad there are such strong signs that spring is finally arriving over there...

So am I. I have no doubt we'll get more winter, but at least the end is in sight.
