signs of spring

Slowly but surely, spring is breaking out in New England. We've even had some warm weather, though not for the past couple of days. But no snow! Some of my friends and relatives in NY and PA have gotten snow, but not us, knock wood.

We are way behind where we usually are. We're not even close to having apple blossoms, and I remember years when I was afraid they wouldn't last until Beltane, which is this Friday. I'm planning to go to Mount Auburn after the traditional maypole and brunch, and I hope I get to see some flowers!

Familiar flowers! Except the bloodroot (which is a very evocative name, by the way!).

We were running behind at the start of the month, but thanks to a couple of weeks of sunshine everything has caught up now.

We seem to get a couple of warm, sunny days, then it's back to cold and grey. But at least it's not snowing!
