In case you missed it yesterday, my computer died. Iz ded. It's gone to the great Mac beyond. I fired up my even older iMac, from which I was able to post to (but not read) LJ, and look at my email, but that was about it. I was crushed.

Well, this morning I asked our Mac guru if there were any extra Macs laying around that I could take, and he thought he had an extra tower that they wanted to get rid of. I said that I'd also need a monitor, and he said that there were extra monitors around. So I may have a new(er) computer by the end of today, which would make me oh so very happy. Really, anything would be better than what I have. As I said, it's ancient in computer years, about 11 years old.

So cross your fingers for me!

Yay! And assuming it wasn't the actual hard drive that dies in your other one, it can be taken out, hooked up to separate power in an enclosure, and copied - if you can find a friendly geek to help (maybe Mike or Vinnie?).

I don't think it was the hard drive, but I don't think I have anything vital on it that I can't do without. Good idea, though!

I wish I had the funds to just loan you the $ for a new computer (I know you'd be good for it) but my own situation is precarious right now. When my computer died about a year ago I had to choose between a used tower (~$200) or an Acer Netbook for around the same amount, and I chose the Netbook. It's a little too small to do any serious work on, but my work computer is a laptop so I bring that home a lot. Hope things work out for you soon.

Yay! Yay! Yay! Now we just have to find you a car guru so you can hang out with your friends in the Medway/Holliston area. Btw, I went by Borderland State Park the other day and remembered our walk in the park. How did it get to be the end of June already? Looking forward to another walk this summer.
