busy day

peonies!, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

I had quite the full day for a Sunday! I even managed to sleep in until after 8 again. That felt good.

First, some peonies for the Lizard Queen.

And of course, more roses.

A really weird flower:

Lots of rhododendron:

I love how their spots look like leopard spots. :)

Gorgeous azalea in all shades of orange:

I then made my way home, and went to get my hair cut at a salon that was giving haircuts for $10 as a fundraiser for the Shriners. They had clowns. :)

It was really busy, and people looked like they were having fun. I got a nice cut, helped out, and had a good time to boot. It's been a year since I've gotten a haircut, and boy, did I need it!

I stopped at Forest Park on the way home. I drive by it every day, and rarely get the chance to explore it. It's an Olmsted park (like the Arnold Arboretum and Central Park), and it's huge. I don't think I've seen even half of it yet, and I've been there four times.

I can see this statue from the highway on my way to work every day:

Some of the mountain laurel was in bloom!

One of these days, I'll have to go to the zoo there.

I did laundry while I uploaded all the pix (over 100!). You can see the lot here

I'm bushed!

glad the clowns weren't the ones giving the haircuts. :) what kind of statue is the four-legged creature? a sphinx? it's cool. we don't have any parks nearly that hip.

although, i did drive past pease park today and it was full of people playing frisbie golf. :)

Yes, it's a sphinx. It's part of a mausoleum for the family who donated the land for the park. Apparently the family really is in the mausoleum!
