lavender and snow, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

What a beautiful day. And I only had to work until noon! Woo hoo. It was so sunny and (almost) warm, I went out in layers of fleece instead of wrapped head to toe as usual.

I walked down to Grandmothers' Garden, because that's where I wanted to take the final photo in the series. It's mostly bare, but there are a few gems left.

The problem is, I can't decide! So I want you to decide for me. Which pic should be #365?

A. Lavender and snow, above.

B. Chilly flamingo

chilly flamingo

C. Shadows and footprints

shadows and footprints

Which one should it be?

Oh, tough choice! There are things I like about each of them - Lavendar is very appealing, I can almost smell it. Flamingo has a fun sense of irony about it, and the shadow of the chickenwire fence is interesting. Footprints has a wonderful composition - the triangular shadows of the branches interacting with the arc of the footprints.

On balance, if this is going to be presented in context with 364 other photos, I think the colorful Chilly Flamingo would compete best for attention.

Thanks! And the flamingo takes an early lead. *g*

I'd vote for the footsteps - heading into a new year... (I love all of them, though!)

Ooh! I like that. Thanks!

Another vote for the footsteps. I think the flamingo is a little... BRASH...

[identity profile] lizziebelle.livejournal.com 2010-12-30 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I thought so too, but I really liked the shadow of the fence on it. Thanks!

Another vote for the footsteps!

[identity profile] lizziebelle.livejournal.com 2010-12-30 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

I like them all, but I have to say I like the footsteps best.

[identity profile] lizziebelle.livejournal.com 2010-12-30 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I think that's my fave, too.

I can't decide between the lavender and the footprints. They're both very different but I like them both a lot.

[identity profile] lizziebelle.livejournal.com 2010-12-30 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
You see my dilemma? I feel the same way! *g*

Shadows and footprints. :-)

[identity profile] lizziebelle.livejournal.com 2010-12-30 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
That's looking like it's going to be the winner. Thanks!

Thanks! It was fun for me, too. :)

i'd vote for the flamingo except the rocks kind of ruin the composition. the footsteps shot is more balanced, and the shadows really work.

[identity profile] lizziebelle.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I did wish those rocks weren't there! I loved the shadow of the fence on the bird, though.

Thanks!

Chalk up another vote for footsteps!

[identity profile] lizziebelle.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! That seems to be the clear winner. :)

As much as I love the whimsy of the flamingo, I have to go with the current majority and choose the footsteps.

[identity profile] lizziebelle.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! The flamingo was a whimsical shot. :)

[identity profile] desert-sparrow.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
They are all lovely. I would choose one of the three. ;)

[identity profile] lizziebelle.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! Thanks. ;)

[identity profile] desert-sparrow.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
The steps, of course, because it is the end but implies a new beginning.

[identity profile] lizziebelle.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Good answer! I was leaning toward that one, but I really liked the other two, and wanted feedback. :)

Keep the flamingo, and use it for next year's holiday card: it's just wierd enough to be ironic, whimsical, and innocent, too.

;-)

My mother will love it. *g*

I do like the lavender and snow and the flamingo is fun, but for symbolism, I don't think you could beat the footsteps in the snow.

The composition is really good with the curve leading the eye across the image and the shadow of the bush breaks up what would otherwise be a blank patch of white. But the deciding fact for me is the way the shot gives a feeling of walking on into a new beginning.

[identity profile] lizziebelle.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I really like that people see that in it. :)
