getting out

I went out for a walk in the cemetery this morning, where the snow was heavy and wet. It was dripping and plopping out of the trees as I walked, going *splat* as it fell around and on me. It was too heavy for the dogwood tree, which did not fare well under its weight.
One large limb cracked, and left this arched scar.
The wet snow covered the buds on the rhododendron:
It was warm enough for puddles, reflecting the world on the surface and in the depths:
It was dry underneath the cedar tree, though. A little refuge.
On a gravestone, snow over a candle flame:
My heart goes out to the people of Chile, where my cousin spent a year studying a while back. I'm glad that Hawaii didn't get hit with a big tsunami; my aunt & uncle just left there yesterday (only to come home to more than two feet of new snow: they live in Binghamton). The world is a wild and dangerous place this weekend.
