I finally got my hot little hands on a copy of S by J.J. Abrams and Doug Dorst. I've wanted this book since I first heard about it, and I finally accumulated enough survey points to get it from Amazon (I know, I know, they're evil, but I don't have money for books right now so I'll take it).

Abrams (Lost, Alias, Star Trek) came up with the idea, and Dorst wrote the book. It comes in a black slipcover, and looks like an old library book (complete with date stamps in the back).

In between the pages, there are lots of interesting items like photocopied telegrams, postcards, and even a map on a napkin.

On the pages of the book are written notes between two people who are deciphering the history of the (fictional) author of the book.

I can't wait to read it! I love this sort of thing. Lost was one of my all-time favorite shows, and one of the things I loved about it was the mysteries embedded in the story, things you had to pay attention to to notice.

It's been a long time since I've been this excited about a book. I'll let you know what I think after I've read it!

Oh my, what a gorgeous day today! Of course, I was back at work, but I went for a long walk right after supper, and went to hang out with the ducks at Stanley Park. This one had a good stretch after a long day's quack.

A quiet evening is planned, watching the extras from LOST. I was smart and requested disc 6 first, which turns out (as I surmised) to have all the extras. I watched "The new man in charge" last night, and let me tell you, if you're a fan and watched the whole series, you really want to see this. It answers several minor questions that didn't get addressed in the show, and it will make you smile. It also reminded me how much I am going to miss seeing new episodes.

The next week and a half is going to be a long haul: my coworker is going on vacation starting tomorrow. Thank goodness there's a long weekend in the middle of it. Which I will be spending having a tag sale (that's a yard sale for those of you who don't live in the Connecticut River valley). Honestly, I'm more psyched about getting this stuff out of my house than I am about making some money. If you're nearby, come on down! It's good stuff!

I have some magickal stuff I want to get rid of, which I may bring to Conjure Cinema this Saturday. Not really tag sale material. *g*

Here's something that made me happy today: Pretzel M&Ms now come in the large bag. Plenty for me, plenty to share! Oh, and Lou brought in more produce from his garden this morning. I snagged some lovely plum and cherry tomatoes. *nom*

I went out for a walk this morning, trying to get out before it got too hot. By the time I got home (elevenish), it was already steamy. I'm really happy that my apartment has A/C; between that and keeping the shades down, it's comfortable in here.

Sad that there's no new LOST tonight. Or ever. *snif*

I want to write up my thoughts on LOST before I read too many other write-ups. Cut for spoilers if you haven't seen it, or don't care.

I was awake much too early today, as usual, but I did manage to get in a nap. Which is good, because I will be up past my bedtime tonight watching the finale of LOST. I'm sad that it's ending, but glad they chose to finish the story and tell it their way, instead of it fizzling out or getting canceled like so many shows I've liked in the past. I've managed to remain unspoiled for the finale, and will go offline after this to remain so. I had the finale of M*A*S*H ruined for me by spoilers, and I really don't want that to happen with this show.

To all my LOST peeps out there, enjoy the finale! We can cry together tomorrow. It may only end once, but we can talk about it for days afterward. *g*

Robin, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

I haven't had any abusive people call me today. My coworker was the lucky one, but hers didn't use crude and/or vulgar language; she was just annoying. Still, nice to have someone else take it today. *g*

I saw this fat little robin while at lunch today, taking advantage of the easy pickings on the soggy ground at the park. There were several robins bouncing around, but this one got the closest to me. I like the markings around his eye.

It's a dreary, grey day today. I'm glad that *last* Tuesday was my day off; it was a gorgeous day. Luck is with me this month, at least when it comes to the weather!

Looking forward to LOST tonight: it's all about spoiler )

50 already

I'm up to day 50 in my 365 project. Go me!

After a Lunch Fail (underdone noodles that then went cold when I helped a customer) (but it was a good sale to a new customer, so, yay), I walked down to the center of town in the wonderful 40 degree sunshine. It was a bit breezy, but it felt good. Most of Tuesday's snow has melted. I made up for my lack of a decent lunch with Mini Robin's Eggs from Walgreens. I wanted dark chocolate Cadbury Mini Eggs, but nobody seems to have them this year. Poo!

Something else that I can't find anywhere: elderberry jelly. Does nobody make that anymore? Not even the gourmet places have it. I want some!

I'm thinking of rewatching this week's LOST tonight instead of the Olympics. I don't really like the boys' figure skating. I know this is an unpopular stance, but I just can't get into it. Plus, LOST was fantastic this week! It deserves another look.

hanging out, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

Snowzilla has not delivered here in western Massachusetts; it didn't start falling until after 1:00, and still hasn't amounted to very much. The roads do look rather slippery though, so I'm glad I don't have to drive, but still. I feel cheated.

I'm glad I took the day off, though. Stress and anxiety have been taking their toll, so I went out for a long walk, and I feel much better now than I did this morning. I forget how much exercise, even just walking, helps.

I walked down to the park, where the geese looked as perplexed as I at the lack of snow. snapshots )

Some hot chocolate thawed me out nicely, and I spent the afternoon reading The Lovely Bones and watching part of Solaris. It (the movie) was as indecipherable as always, but strangely comforting. I always forget that the dude who played Faraday on Lost was in it, playing an eerily similar character. I wonder if Faraday will show up this season? Dead definitely doesn't mean gone on that show.

Speaking of which, there were some great moments in last night's episode, no? Hurley asking Sayid if he was a Zombie; Ethan (!) telling Claire he didn't want to poke her with needles; Sawyer tossing the ring into the water, and Kate crying for his loss. Powerful stuff. I love that show.

Anyhoo, the weather dudes should be cringing with shame right now for messing up yet again. According to them, we should have 4-5" by now, and blizzard conditions. We have barely half an inch, and it's snowing lightly. Sheesh.

annoyances

My crazy neighbor was at it again in the wee hours this morning, and it made me quite cranky. I can usually sleep through anything (I've slept right through thunderstorms while in a tent), but I just happened to be awake when he began thanks to my tiny bladder. He raved for about an hour, and I seriously considered calling the police, but every time I grabbed my phone, he'd stop. Next time, I am calling just as soon as he starts. Seriously.

Also? Jimmy Fallon is not funny. Just sayin'.

The day ended with me cranky, too, thanks to the person I asked (at 4:00) to make me a proof, which she handed to me at 5:00 as I was shutting off my computer and grabbing my coat. Grr.

I shrugged off the cranky in the car and sang along with the radio the whole way home.

I have Star Trek in my hot little hands, but I won't watch it tonight because FlashForward is on. Yes, I am still watching that. It has Jack Davenport and Dominic Monaghan, why in the world wouldn't I? *g* It's no LOST, but it's still loads better than most of what's on the telly these days. Oh, and I heard today that LOST will be back February 2nd, and will air on Tuesdays at 9. Whee! Anyhoo, I will probably check out the DVD and see what extras are there. I've seen the outtakes, and they're pretty funny.

One more day. One more, and then I am on vacation. I can do it!

In lieu of real content, since I can't find anything substantial to say, here is a magnolia blossom from the other day.

Oh, wait, here's something: was anybody surprised by Miles' revelation about his father on LOST last night? I saw that coming ages ago. What is it with that show and daddy issues?
