Happy Valentine's Day! Guess what? We have another blizzard arriving this afternoon. I have stocked up with chocolate, and am contemplating just going back to bed.

I managed to make it out this morning while the sun was still out, after the fog burned off. It was 68 degrees! Thirty degrees warmer than the same time yesterday.

I even managed to get my laundry done before I went out. I guess there are some advantages to being unable to sleep late.

I walked down to Amelia Park, where not much is blooming yet. Just a couple of tulips, and the hyacinth that was there last week; the magnolia and cherry is just starting to open. This is the same cherry that bloomed last fall. I think they're all confused still from last year.

I found a fiver on the ground in the parking lot. Hey, I can use it to score some half-price chocolate tomorrow! Maybe they'll have a dark chocolate bunny left.

Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate. I'm celebrating the Earth coming back to life. :)

Even though today is the coldest day this week, the sun was out so I went for a walk. I went to the library first, exchanging old books for new, then to CVS where I scored some Godiva dark chocolate strawberry truffles at half price. Plus I had a $1 extra bucks coupon, making it extra sweet. Go me.

Yesterday's warmth plus today's cold meant extra icy sidewalks in some places, which wasn't much fun. I am so looking forward to ice-free sidewalks, someday... maybe by April...

fun things found around town )

I was in an uncharacteristic cleaning mood today; I swept the floors, tossed in a load of laundry (including my dingy bedroom curtains), and cleaned off the kitchen table, which had been accumulating stuff for too long. I also tossed out my old toaster oven, which I had been using to bake polymer clay items (and was therefore unfit for food); I had sold all my clay in the tag sale last fall. I didn't quite have the energy to drag out the vacuum; that'll have to wait for the weekend.

I also had some ideas for consolidating shelving, so I can get rid of the wooden shelves in the kitchen.

All of this was much better than stewing in anxiety all day, which is how the morning started out. Screw that.

A coworker of mine got flowers today, and I got a photo op. :)

Valentine's Day was my parents' anniversary. Dad always claimed that he was tricked into it by my grandfather, but he was really an old softie. He always sent us kids valentines in the mail, even when we were grown up.

A friend of mine who's a florist posted on Facebook today that she doesn't know why men are always surprised when Valentine's Day comes; it's on the same day every year. *g*

Me, I'm looking forward to half-price chocolate tomorrow.

Ethel M chocolates, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

I had a fabulous time tonight, and lots of people showed up, hooray! I'm still wired from the drive (and all the chocolate) (mint brownies, yummmmm), so here I am.

It was wonderful to see Jay again, and he remembered that I love Ethel M chocolates and brought me a box! Whee!

These chocolates have liqueurs in them, and they won't ship them to Massachusetts (darned Puritans).

yum!

They are my favorites, and I'm so touched that he remembered! <3

Vinnie brought a cake that was just perfect, too.

Welcome Home Jay

Hee!

I had a reader harass me on the phone today, upset that there were no managers available to take his complaint. He went on and on (and on) with me over something stupid over which I have no control, and about which we can do nothing. He threatened to call the Attorney General (go right ahead, I told him) (and read the ads more carefully, I also told him) and I said good-bye and hung up. Five minutes later, he called back and yelled at me for hanging up on him (wha?) and told me to go f*ck myself with a dildo. So I hung up on him. Several people on Facebook have pointed out that this is hardly an unpleasant thing, so I'm not sure what his point was. *g*

One of my coworkers heard my half of the conversation, and said that she thought I handled it well, so if he complains about me he has no ammunition.

I would be willing to bet the ranch that he's a teabagger. *g*

Anyhoo, I felt a lot better after I had a handful of Cadbury dark chocolate mini eggs.

Cadbury dark chocolate mini eggs

I really hate being the one who answers the phone. :P

50 already

I'm up to day 50 in my 365 project. Go me!

After a Lunch Fail (underdone noodles that then went cold when I helped a customer) (but it was a good sale to a new customer, so, yay), I walked down to the center of town in the wonderful 40 degree sunshine. It was a bit breezy, but it felt good. Most of Tuesday's snow has melted. I made up for my lack of a decent lunch with Mini Robin's Eggs from Walgreens. I wanted dark chocolate Cadbury Mini Eggs, but nobody seems to have them this year. Poo!

Something else that I can't find anywhere: elderberry jelly. Does nobody make that anymore? Not even the gourmet places have it. I want some!

I'm thinking of rewatching this week's LOST tonight instead of the Olympics. I don't really like the boys' figure skating. I know this is an unpopular stance, but I just can't get into it. Plus, LOST was fantastic this week! It deserves another look.

swan song

Remember that swan down at Heritage Park? I paid him a visit today on my lunch break, and decided to try and take a video of him. Being the prissy bird that he is, of course he obliged. He swam up to me, then climbed out of the water and started following me. You'll hear my giggles as he does this. *g*

I also took a few pictures, which I'll post later, or perhaps on my photo blog. It wasn't quite as warm today, but it's sunny and nice, and definitely still un-December-like.

I will be very glad when this day is over. Our least-favorite customer (and believe me, there are a lot of contenders for that title) came in today and had a hissy fit because he's in a feud with another of our customers, and we're caught in the middle. Each accuses the other of copying their ad, but at least the other one only calls. This one comes in and gets louder and louder as he argues the same point over and over. In my experience, this is usually a sure sign that they're in the wrong: the louder they are, the wronger they tend to be. I wish they would both just go away.

At least I had some dark chocolate M&Ms to soothe the frazzled nerves. Nom.

tiger lily, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

This has been the most popular pic on my Flickr stream lately. A lot of folks have been searching for tiger lily pix on Yahoo, it seems. I like it because it's in-your-face cheerful. Also, there's an ant hidden amongst the spots.

I'm posting a cheerful pic because I was expecting today to be unpleasant, but it turned out to be merely inconvenient in places. Plus I had a nice walk in the sunshine.

Tomorrow promises to be warm, but grey and damp. Ah well, can't win 'em all! I'm just happy because February is almost over. That, and CVS had Cadbury dark chocolate mini eggs. *g*

I win

One of the outside salespeople called in a panic this morning, because she had a customer who needed to get in a classified ad, and there was no one in the sales support department today (one had quit, and the other is off Fridays). I said don't worry, we'll get it done. Chill. I found her ad, typed it in, then had to retype it because she had given me the wrong account number originally. She said Thanks, I owe you one, and I said I like chocolate. Dark chocolate.

She just got back from her rounds, and gave me this:

Win!
