I've always been a cat person. Being a Leo, that's not particularly surprising. But I do love dogs too, as well as most other animals.

On my walk yesterday, I stumbled upon an event at the Elks Club called Woofstock. The river path ends at the field behind there, and it was full of vendors and people, and dogs. Lots and lots of dogs. So I wandered around taking pictures and talking with people.

They were all very well-behaved.

Last evening, it was finally clear enough to see the moon. I was very pleased to get a picture in which you can see craters!

I love my camera.

A few days ago, I was putting flannel sheets on my bed. Today, I had to turn on the a/c because it was hot! New England weather, man. You really never know what it's going to do.

At least my morning glories are still blooming. Blue is far from my favorite color, but these are so gloriously blue, I adore them.

As my former future husband is now off the market, I am now taking applications for the next candidate. At the head of the pack is Benedict Cumberbatch, as his voice can make me dissolve into a puddle of Jell-o. I foresee a Sherlock marathon in my near future...

Yesterday was such a gorgeous day, I just had to get outside. I took a walk along the river path, where this chipmunk thought I couldn't see him. Hee hee!

We are definitely past peak color, but it's still pretty out there.

Autumn by the river

My boss was giving movie passes last week as an end-of-the-month incentive, and I ended up with four of them, so I invited some friends to come with me to see 'Gravity" this afternoon. Wow, what an amazing movie! It really felt like we were in space. So intense. This was definitely worth seeing in the theatre, and in 3D. The fact that it co-stars my future husband was just icing on the cake. Sandra Bullock is so good in this film. Highly recommended!

I had to get outside today to enjoy the warm(ish) weather, even though the fog has persisted. It made Gates Pond and the surrounding woods ethereal. The sun came out for a few minutes just as I got home.

Settling in to watch the Golden Globes, because I just can't help myself. There was just a Clooney sighting, so I guess that makes it worth it.

It's been a long, stressful couple of weeks. I went up to the stable earlier this week for some horsey therapy, but it was a bit disappointing because I got attacked by mosquitoes, and the horses had fly masks on so I couldn't get any good face/eye shots of them. They seemed glad for some attention, though. I got a couple of "hello" nickers, which was sweet. I love it when they do that.

A customer placing a tag sale ad today told me the whole sad story about her husband's infidelity, which was very weird. What is it about me that total strangers share such intimate stories with me? Perhaps I missed my calling; perhaps I should have been a therapist. Or maybe a bartender.

I accumulated enough survey points to get some more Amazon gift certificates, so last night I went on a shopping spree. I bought Good Night and Good Luck, O Brother, Where Art Thou? (plus the soundtrack CD), and Up in the Air. Yes, a veritable Clooney film fest. It did make me feel a little bit better. I didn't own any of his movies (believe it or not). I would have bought Ocean's Eleven too, but they show that so often on TV, I don't have to.

I'm enjoying the cooler weather we're having. It's so nice to have the muggies gone. Good sleeping weather! I love that little nip in the air. Brings to mind crunchy leaves, crisp apples, and crystalline skies. I just hope this crazy summer we've had doesn't ruin our fall color.

Time to get into jammies and be a couch potato for the evening. TGIF. Happy weekend!

I didn't get half the stuff done that I wanted to this weekend, but that's OK, because I needed the downtime. I got plenty of rest, watched at least three George Clooney movies, and even managed to do some walking.

After the steel-grey skies and muggy air cleared out, it turned into a rather nice evening, so I went out for another walk after supper. The air felt so good after the muggies of earlier today. It's supposed to be nice and cool tonight, so the a/c is going off and the windows are getting opened. Fresh air is so wonderful.

sunset in the parking lot, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

I was determined to get out of the house and go to the movies today, and I made it, despite the cold. I will not be a slug all winter! Never mind that I took a nap, and didn't get dressed until after noon...

I went to see "Up in the Air," and enjoyed it. Not really an uplifting movie, but everyone in it was great, and of course George was fantastic, as always. It didn't go where I expected it to, and that's a good thing. Predictability is so, well, predictable.

The pic was taken in the parking lot as I was leaving. The setting sun peeking through the trees caught my eye. Not a particularly interesting picture, but at least I remembered to bring my camera and take a shot. I was tempted to stop at a cemetery on the way home to take some more, but my fingers were just starting to warm up, and the thought of something warm to drink at home was more enticing.

Since all of my local friends were either sick or otherwise engaged, I went to the movies by myself. No biggie; I do that all the time if I really want to see something, and nobody is available to go with me. I had a pair of free passes given to me by a coworker, so now I can go see a second movie for free. There was a preview for an upcoming George Clooney movie that caught my eye...

The theatre complex was pretty busy, which surprised me. I had to park pretty far out in the lot. It's a nice Saturday afternoon, and who knows how many more of those we'll get this year? The theatre itself was about half full.

The movie was fun, quite enjoyable. I had a good time, and laughed a lot. It's funny but not stupid, and George, Ewan, and Jeff Bridges were all up to their usual level. I'm not really a fan of Kevin Spacey, but he played an unlikeable character, so that worked for me. There were some fun in-jokes (Ewan MacGregor's character didn't know what a Jedi was), and the flashbacks full of New Age hokeyness made me giggle quite a bit. I know people who believe all this stuff. I may be a Witch, but I have a healthy sense of skepticism. ;)

Plus, the goats were cute. Thumbs up for The Men Who Stare at Goats.

I saw another preview for a flick that I think is called Pirate Radio, and that looks to be fun as well. Also, Jack Davenport (Norrington from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies) is in it, and I think I have a crush on him. I don't know if it's his voice, the accent, or what, but my antennae go up whenever I see him in something. (Don't worry, George is still #1)

Lest you think I didn't get out and enjoy the nice weather today, let me assure you that I took a nice walk down to the library, where I got out [livejournal.com profile] ellen_datlow's Poe (which I plan to buy when I have actual spending money, someday), and Douglas Clegg's Isis, a supernatural novella set in Cornwall. Sounds spine-tingly. I took the long way home, enjoying the sunshine and nifty cloud formations. Ooh, and I was treated to a lovely sunset on the ride home from the theatre. Great, swirly cirrus clouds lit in pink and purple.

I'm hoping that we get a nice sunset tomorrow, too; this month's contest on boston.com's RAW is silhouettes, and the photo must be taken this month. I have a tree in mind that would make a nice silhouette against a sunset.

PETA, those folks known for their thoughtful and sane actions (not), decided that CloFu, which is George Clooney-flavored tofu, would be a good idea. It seems that someone acquired a sweat-soaked towel used by Mr. Clooney, and offered to make Clooney flavoring out of it as a fundraiser. George's response? "As a mammal, I'm offended." Hee!

And no, no matter what you might think, I would NOT buy CloFu. That's just disgusting. :P

In other news, NOBODY TOLD ME that last night was George's return to ER. There's no way I could've stayed up for it, but I would have taped it! There was no mention of him in the promos I saw. You'd think they'd be shouting it from the rooftops!
