I've always been a cat person. Being a Leo, that's not particularly surprising. But I do love dogs too, as well as most other animals.

On my walk yesterday, I stumbled upon an event at the Elks Club called Woofstock. The river path ends at the field behind there, and it was full of vendors and people, and dogs. Lots and lots of dogs. So I wandered around taking pictures and talking with people.

They were all very well-behaved.

Last evening, it was finally clear enough to see the moon. I was very pleased to get a picture in which you can see craters!

I love my camera.

A few days ago, I was putting flannel sheets on my bed. Today, I had to turn on the a/c because it was hot! New England weather, man. You really never know what it's going to do.

At least my morning glories are still blooming. Blue is far from my favorite color, but these are so gloriously blue, I adore them.

As my former future husband is now off the market, I am now taking applications for the next candidate. At the head of the pack is Benedict Cumberbatch, as his voice can make me dissolve into a puddle of Jell-o. I foresee a Sherlock marathon in my near future...

I went for a nice post-supper walk about town. It was in the 80's, but not humid, and the sunshine was nice & bright.

what did I find? )

You just never know what you'll find when you wander. :)

messy day

Juneau & Dakota, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

It was a slushy, messy commute into work this morning. But! Look who came to visit us! Juneau and her (newish) sister, Dakota! What a pair of sweeties.

It's been raining since I got here, after snowing all night. Not far west of here, it was mostly snow, and lots of people have lost their power. Yikes. I know ours went out sometime during the night, because the clocks on my microwave and VCR are at zero. Luckily, I have a battery backup on my alarm.

this is what we got )

I will be so happy when this winter is over. I'm always happy when winter is over, but this one has been weird. Just gotta get through March. :P

day 11

I took the new camera out into the woods for the first time today. There was some amazing ice that groaned and cracked, looking and sounding like plate glass. The water was still high, so a couple of crossing spots were inaccessible.

I love how the water leaps onto the branches and freezes there )

I'll process and upload the rest of them tomorrow, because I'm just not in the mood for fighting with the computer today. Just to do these three took me almost half an hour, because I had to reboot when iPhoto protested. Sheesh.

I found out that the Nikon doesn't like to take closeups of things on the ground, which is curious. I imagine that most people don't take that sort of picture, so it's not quite sure what I'm trying to do. *g*

I had two different dogs run up to me like I was an old friend, furiously wagging their tails. It's a good thing that I like dogs (even though I'm thoroughly a cat person). :)

I was behind this car on the way home this afternoon. That's a dog with its head out the sunroof. There's another dog with its head out the window. Hee!

The trees are really starting to turn color! I found some lovely specimens down at Heritage Park at lunchtime. Click the link to see more!

There was a police K9 unit in the park, training one of their dogs. It was really neat - the dog sat quietly until the order was given, then it rushed at the officer wearing the arm guard and ripped it off of him, wrestling it to the ground. It was like a game to him. It was a German Shepherd, mostly black. I've always been wary of those dogs; one of my uncles had one when I was a kid and she didn't like children. She would always growl when I went through the breezeway where she was kept. Her name was Duchess.

I didn't win the "most improved desk" contest during this week's cleanup at work; apparently, the secret was to have a *really* messy desk to begin with. My cube looks nice & neat, though!

I walked down to Stanley Park this morning, so I could get some rose shots in the sunlight. Oh, my goodness, what treasures are there!

captivating

come and see! )

One more flower:

vista

It was quite muggy toward the end of my walk, and all afternoon it's threatened to storm, but nothing beyond a couple of rumbles and a few drops of rain.

I finally gave up on my Kodak software; it just wasn't cooperating, so I trashed it. I'm tired of fighting with it. I used iPhoto instead, which doesn't do as much, but it works.

I have to think of something fun for tomorrow: it's Nature Photography Day!

Although it's not morning anymore for some of you!

It's a lovely day here in Maryland. I took a walk around the neighborhood this morning... it's so pretty around here! We're in Glyndon, which is part of Reisterstown, and apparently this is where the wealthy Baltimoreans came to escape the city back in the day. Lots of big old Victorians, stone walls, and ivy. Yes, I took pictures. *g*

Jack, Lanah & Willow headed into town to pick up the food for the festivities this afternoon. They're expecting around 30 people, and we'll be eating out on the (huge) porch. The chairs got delivered yesterday. Should be lots of fun!

We're flying home tomorrow afternoon. I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed. This morning, the resident dog, Ferdinand (named after the bull in the children's book), hopped into bed with me to watch the birds through the window. He's a miniature schnauzer, and he looks like Toto and is a cutie. I'm not usually a fan of small dogs, but he's not yippy or obnoxious, and I like him.

I'll see y'all on the flipside! Happy Saturday!
