Today's urban nature walk was at Bussey Brook Meadow Urban Wild, which is part of the Arnold Arboretum. Led by urbpan, only two others showed up, but we had a very nice ramble. We saw lots of interesting insects and wildflowers, snails, birds, and fungi.
There were plaques identifying wildflowers, insects, and other things.
Once we reached the end of the path, we crossed the street and went into the main part of the Arboretum.
This is bird's nest fungus, which is tiny and wicked cool:
It's been a while since I've been to the Arboretum, so I was glad to see parts of it I've never seen. It's been one of my favorite places for over 20 years. I used to live right down the street from it, and have spent a lot of time there. It's where I first became interested in nature photography.
I took a nap this afternoon, because I've been unable to sleep in this weekend, and I had the most intense, cinematic dream. It featured a homicidal, shape-shifting female cop. I had to write the whole thing down when I woke up, because it really was like a little movie. Except I didn't get to see the ending, because I woke up. I guess I'll have to write it.
