phone tag

I played phone tag with Mike for much of the afternoon. We were trying to decide when/where to see The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy tomorrow evening. We finally connected and made a decision. Yay! I can't wait to see it. I've been waiting a long time for this movie to come out. I read a couple of reviews today, both good. One of the reviewers had actually read the book, which is good. Reminds me of something my brother said many years ago; that the books are bestsellers, and always say "millions of copies in print" on them, but you almost never meet people who have read them. Outside of the Pagan world, which is heavily overlapped by the SF world, I don't know that I have met anyone who's read them. Which is too bad, really, because they're such fun. Maybe this movie will get more exposure for the books and get people to read them. I have to say that Douglas Adams is one of my all-time favorite authors. The first time I read Terry Pratchett (and I know this is heresy), all I could think was that it was a pale imitation of Adams. I've since upgraded my opinion of him, but I still think he's not quite as good.

Ready to go home after a long, mostly fruitless day. My last call from a customer was a complaint about the placement of his ad. Argh. I wish these guys would find something better to do! I don't make enough commission for some of the stuff I have to suffer through! I tell ya, some of them are bigger prima donnas than the rich women of leisure that I used to wait on at Bloomingdale's.
