Going off to Woolman Hill in Deerfield for the annual SEF retreat soon. I so look forward to this every year! I've been going there since 1988 or '89, when the dearly (coff coff) departed local CoG chapter had its fall meetings there. I like it so much better in the spring, though; the apple and lilac trees are in bloom, and everything's green! It's supposed to be rainy this weekend, 'though not a steady rain. I plan to get some hiking out in the woods onto the itinerary at some point. There were a couple of workshops that sounded interesting, and my HPS asked me to be the Empress (as in the Tarot card) for the main ritual. It's nice to have friends in high places! She also asked me to stop at the store on the way to get the perishables (milk, eggs, butter, etc) that they couldn't get ahead of time for tomorrow's breakfast. So I guess it balances out. ;)

Sounds like we'll have a full house, which should be fun. Last year, I could only go for Saturday, which was strange. I just couldn't afford the whole weekend. What was cool, though, was when I walked in the main room and got a round of applause from everyone, who had gathered for the morning festivities. Made me feel ever so special!

I was just talking with Mike, our paper's managing editor, about the Ren Faire. He promised to do a story on it ahead of time to help publicize it. See what I mean about having friends in high places? It's a good thing.

So now, the weekly wait for the proof. Kim suggested, and Tom (boss man) agreed, that we could take turns leaving early on Fridays. One of us would count out the ads in each category, and the other would stay to make sure they all get in there in the correct spots. Sounds good to me!

I got to hear the neighborhood bagpiper again today. He was out there when I got back from lunch. There was another guy with him, perhaps his teacher? He looked like he was directing him. Then they packed the pipes in the car and drove away. I think Mike should do a story on him. That would be interesting! Or not, but it would be fun to find out his story.

So hopefully, today I will get out of here at a decent time. I know Beth (who is laying out the ads) has to leave early, so the outlook is good.
