drudgery

Today is Get Things Done Around the House day. Just tossed the second load of laundry into the dryer. Made my bathroom sparkle. Took out the trash. All I have left, really, is the dishes. I have to get in the right mood to do dishes. Once I get going, it's OK... it's just getting started that I find difficult. Like any household task, really. I'll have to put on some loud music and roll up my sleeves.

Went grocery shopping this morning, at a different market. I'd heard good things about Geissler's in Agawam, so I ventured over there. I wasn't too impressed. They did have a couple things I don't see at my usual haunts, but not really worth the schlep. At least I got that out of the way early.

As soon as the second load is done, I'm going for a nice long walk. This day is just too beautiful to waste indoors all day.

I finished the laundry and did the dishes. Got to cross everything off my to-do list today! What a good feeling. I even got to go for a walk down to Stanley Park, and I saw the buzzards roosting in some very tall pine trees. There were a couple dozen circling around, with only the occasional wing swoosh to give them away, and then they landed noisily in the trees. It's an amazing thing to see six or eight large birds sitting in a tree!

I just watched The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy again thanks to Netflix, and I have to say I liked it even less the second time. Even the bit with the yarn wasn't as funny, since I knew it was coming. I don't know why I should be disappointed; almost every Hollywood adaptation of a book I like has been way below par. Maybe it's a good thing that DA didn't get to see it through completion?
