It's now officially been winter for almost an hour. The sun is cheerfully shining, sticking its tongue out at us. Cheers!

Today was our Secret Santa gift exchange. They got pizza for us, too. Yay! Free food! I got gift cards for Panera and Dunkin Donuts. That was nice! The weird thing about the Secret Santa here is that it stays secret. Every other place I've done it, you found out who your Santa was when you got your gift. Here, they don't reveal themselves. Kinda odd. My Santa appears to both know and like me. :)

I'm wearing my boingy Santa hat today, which everyone loves and covets. Dan wanted to trade hats (his was just a plain old, floppy Santa hat) and I said no. My hat! I've been making people smile (and giggle) all day. A few even felt the need to bat at it. Several called me Cindy Lou Who. I must have someone take my picture in it so I can show it off. It's a very cool hat.

Rob dropped off the bunny at my office today, and of course he came while I was at lunch. The story of the bunny is a convoluted one, which began at Naked Pagan Hippie Camp last summer. Actually, it began a couple of years ago, but for our purposes I shall start the story with the abduction. Across from Babylon Heights, where I camp at Sirius Rising Festival, there was a monstrosity of a dome, atop which rested a large, plastic, lit-from-within bunny of the Easter variety. The owner of said bunny is named Ivan. There has been some friction between Ivan and Babylon for a few years running, but nothing major. At the end of Starwood, some members of Babylon (I'm not sure who), in a moment of enterprise, kidnapped the bunny without Ivan's knowledge. It has since made its way around the country, going at least as far as Illinois. The plan is to send it as many places as possible between now and next July, in order to present the bunny, along with a travelogue and incriminating pictures, back to Ivan. Kind of like the gnome abductions you've heard about, only with bunnies.

You know, I wonder if anyone has Ivan's address? It would be extremely funny to be sending him postcards from the bunny. Has anyone thought of this? Must find out.

Anyhoo, I'll be taking the bunny to [livejournal.com profile] textiletart's party on xmas night, to pass him along to someone else for a while.

Some days, it's really fun to be me. :)

This is The Bunny, wearing my boingy Santa hat. I had to explain The Bunny to several coworkers today, most of whom were amused. It is now in my car until Sunday, when I pass it along to Berta. I'm thinking of printing this onto a postcard and sending it to Ivan. ;)

The shortbread is in the oven, and my toes are finally warm again. I went to a Solstice celebration right here in my town this evening, presented by the local magick shop. It was nice, and most of the people there (about 50) were not Pagan, which was cool. They did a little play of Russian origin, with the Frost King and Snow Queen, about the real meaning of the season (family and togetherness). Then we all lit candles and processed to a lovely bonfire, where they had coffee and sang carols. Then I had to scoot home to make the shortbread for my officemates.

Light is returning, the days will get longer, and the warmth of the oven warms my heart as well. Happy Solstice!
