I'm still undecided whether I want to go to the company holiday party. Part of me wants to go, 'cause it might be fun, but part of me just says meh, I see these people every day, and I haven't had a weekend off in months. Now, if it were at Buon Appetito, I would so be there. First, the food! It is scrumptious. And second, not in Springfield! Bonus that it's in Westfield. I still have a couple of hours before I have to decide. But right now I'm leaning toward staying home.

Went to the library to pick up The Uses of Enchantment. Not sure how this might help my writing; it's written by a child psychologist, and it's about how fairy tales relate to children's lives. It sounds like it would be right up [livejournal.com profile] capriuni's alley, though! I'll leaf through it and see if there's anything useful in there for me. One never knows!

I started reading [livejournal.com profile] blackholly's book, Tithe, yesterday. Read some more this morning. Urban fantasy, my most favoritest genre. So far it's drawing me in, which is a good thing, even though I don't really relate to the protagonist. When I was sixteen, I was such a goody-two-shoes.

The sun is out! I don't remember the last sunny day we had. It was sometime last year. I know, the year's less than a week old, but still. Too long. I should probably go out for a walk, but I probably won't. I have a very tender neck & shoulder, which is making want to just curl up under a throw and read and sip tea. Or maybe watch one of the DVDs I got from Netflix today. I have Must Love Dogs and Jim Henson's Storyteller: The Greek Myths to choose from. Last night it was Lewis Black, followed by a fresh episode of Battlestar Galactica. OMG, I am so addicted to that show! It just keeps getting better.

One of my neighbors is having a shouting match. Lovely.

OK, it's not a shouting match going on next door. It sounds more like lunatic raving, or perhaps a private poetry slam. Either way, I am more convinced than ever that my neighbor is nuts.

Eep!

I didn't go to the party. My subconscious decided for me: I fell asleep, and woke up at 5:00. Oh well! Like I said, I didn't really want to go anyway. The only regret I have is that everyone's going to ask me on Monday where I was. And I can't really tell them that I was on a train, running from a werewolf. I have the weirdest dreams when I take naps!

Both movies were thumbs-down. The Jim Henson Storytellers DVD was a big disappointment; they played fast and loose with the mythology, and they really lost me. It was just dull.

Must Love Dogs was everything I don't like about romantic comedies: cliched, wooden, artificial. Even Diane Lane and John Cusack couldn't save it. I also resent the fact that people think a woman can't be complete unless she's in a relationship. Sheesh.
