lizziebelle: (maxfield parrish)
So today, I followed up yesterday's computer wizardry (I hear you laughing, [livejournal.com profile] justjanus) with more tech savvy. I created the categories for a new section in the paper called "Let's Celebrate!", which will be for birth announcements, engagements, birthdays, and that sort of thing. And I managed to get an image from a disk onto my computer, which is no easy task for this Mac girl. It took me a couple of tries, but I figured it out all by myself. Windows makes everything harder- on a Mac, all you have to do is click on the icon, which automatically shows up on your desktop, and move it. There's a couple more steps on this machine. First, you have to find the sucker. Which I figured out, using my fabulous powers of deduction. I even got it into the correct folder. Go me!

I was telling my boss, Barb, how funny it was that I was the office computer expert. (Not the entire office, mind you, but in the sales division at least. There's some real Mac whizzes in the graphics department, and Dan is the Windows expert.) Funny when you consider that ten or eleven years ago, I was just learning to use a Mac, and I didn't learn Windows until almost five years ago, when I went to work at AliMed. I was always intimidated by computers, because when I was in high school (back in the dark ages), computers used punchcards and only the pocket-protector set could figure them out. It still amazes me that I have a computer in my house, and I talk to people all over the world through it.
