excitement at The Reminder!

Right this very minute, I have a fireman on a ladder not three feet from me!

There's been a smell of smoke in the ladies' restroom, which is on the other side of the wall from me, for a couple of days. Just when I got back from lunch, Al (who is a part-time fireman) decided that we should call the fire dept. The truck pulled into the parking lot a couple of minutes later (ooh! sirens!) and the fully-equipped firefighters all piled into the ladies room. (Reminded me of the incident at the dedication of a covenmate at justjanus and sea_dark_wine's house a few years ago) (Remind me sometime and I'll tell you *that* story)

Then a couple of them came into our office with a ladder, and one climbed up to remove a ceiling tile to see if he could get through that way. OK, he's replacing it now, and little bits of ceiling are raining down on me.

I don't think they've found the source of the smoky smell yet. The fan gave out a couple days ago, I guess.

I'm the only one here who finds all of this exciting. :D

I'll let you know later what comes of this!

The firedudes are gone, after giving us a lecture on replacing the fans and opening some of the heating vents. Nice guys, though. Dave, the handyman, is teasing me; he thinks I was all excited because there were cute firemen in the office. That was only *half* the reason. Fire trucks! Guys with axes! Ladders! There's still that little kid in me who finds that stuff really cool. :)
