lizziebelle: (Witchy LizzieBelle)
I'm sitting here, still undecided about whether to go to B&C's cookout. I really want to be there, but I don't want to go. I can think of a dozen little reasons not to go, but one big one: I want to see my friends, some of whom I haven't seen since the holidays, or even before.

Grrrr. I'm watching NECN, and they're calling for "torrential downpours" in eastern MA. It's actually not raining (at the moment) here.

I haven't heard from C&R, so there's no chance of bumming a ride.

It'll cost me $10 or $15 in gas.

Oh, phooey.

So, I went to the cookout after all. I just know you were all hanging on the edge of your chairs, wondering if I'd go. ;)

I'm glad I went. I saw lots of good friends, including [livejournal.com profile] dalbino83 and [livejournal.com profile] ghoti72 (who gave me news of an old boyfriend). I found out that one of my friends has split with her husband, and that my old roomie's cat passed over. I had some awesome food, including about five Alaskan King Crab legs. OMG, yum! Split, grilled, and brushed with butter. I could've eaten more. Ooh, and mead, and cyser, and elderberry mead. Mmmmmmm, mead! Yum.

The weather wasn't quite as bad as they'd predicted; it wasn't even raining here, and it didn't start in earnest until I was almost to I-495. It sounds like maybe they should be building an ark in Boston, though. It was cold, so there was no hanging out around the fire in the backyard. I think they were trying to get one going when I left.

I saw the funniest thing on the way there: as I was getting on the Pike, the dude in front of me had some trouble getting the ticket out of the machine. He was tugging and pulling, and it wasn't coming. He finally got it out, and another ticket popped out. He took that one, too. As I pulled up behind him, he was giving me the thumbs-up sign. Then he gave the thumbs-up to an older man that he passed. He waved to me as he got off at the next exit. He was funny. :)

I now have a bit of a headache, which might be from the mead. Some of it was on the young side, a bit yeasty. It's off to bed with me. G'night, LJ!
