It didn't rain, so I went to the Westside Taste of the Valley. Actually, the sun came out later, which was nice. We were set up right next to the bandstand, where a group called Union Jack was playing oldies from the British Invasion in the 60s: Beatles, Stones, Badfinger, etc. They were OK. The group that was playing when we left was a Neal Diamond tribute band. *shudder* Thank goodness *they* weren't playing next to us!
Our booth had a beanbag toss, and the prizes were food & drink tickets, and tix to the local women's soccer team. Lots of people were lured in by some dude named Dmitri, who was assigned to help us. He was funny.
Barb gave us each a pile of food & drink tickets. I had a couple of beers, some Chinese food, and a sumptuous chocolate cake (that I took "to go" and am eating right this moment). I was hoping to see someone I knew so I could give them to someone who would enjoy them. Maybe I'll just go back on Sunday; free food & beer!
Down the hill at the Big E, they were having a balloon festival, and we saw
this eagle-shaped balloon. (Scroll down, it's next to the Energizer bunny)
Hmmmm, the themes this week seem to be eagles and the Beatles... how odd. I wonder if that means anything?
