One of the members of our chat group offered to have the monthly meet & greet at her house yesterday. We've also changed the name, as Woman of Wands is officially closed as a business. Cuj & Aurora have stepped down as moderators, and Cymbri made Rob & me moderators for the Yahoo group. We talked about the new name, and where we'd like to go as a group. What I like about this group is that it is moderated, and care is taken to keep it civil and welcoming. We discussed problems we had seen with other groups, and how we could avoid them. We had a short ritual in the back yard, to send energy into our venture. I would like to see us do more ritual together; most of the regulars have a clue, and are serious about their practice. I miss doing ritual regularly.

Cymbri had a belly-dance performance last night, so Rob went with me to Conjure Cinema. The flick was A Touch of Satan (I think), but fortunately it was the MST3K version. It was an awful movie. The commentary was hysterical. Unfortunately, I have to miss next month's movie, which is entirely in Esperanto and stars William Shatner. I think it's called Incubus. We saw the preview, which seemed to have a sense of humor about itself.

Today, I have to do laundry, and start packing for camp. I might head up to Trader Joe's, if I can find the ambition.

The Blue Angels are currently strafing flying over my house, and man, are they loud! It's raining, and the cloud cover is really low, so I can't see them. Wait, they just went by again, and I actually caught sight of one. Cool. They sound like thunder when they get farther away.

Yucky day for an air show. (Woo! There they go again!) I feel badly for the folks who schlepped out to the airfield. I can see why they would though; airplanes cool! Jets extra cool! I'd love to go up in one, but I bet I'd be the one who needs the air sickness bag. (Ooh, there goes another jet!)

The sound of fighter jets over one's house is slightly freaky. The last time they were in town, they totally unnerved me. At least this time I remembered they were coming. (ooh, they just flew by again, got a good look this time!)

The first time I saw them was the day our dog, Bonnie, got hit by a car. I had just graduated from high school. My parents sent us off to the air show, and when we got back to the parking lot, they were there waiting for us, so I knew she was dead. They took us to see Frank Langella's Dracula. And that's what I think of when I see the Blue Angels. Weird how things get tied together in one's memory.
