Blessed Lammas!

A very happy Lammas/ Lughnasadh to all! For those of you scratching your heads and thinking, wasn't that yesterday?, it actually started at sundown yesterday. Those crazy Celts!

This is the festival of First Fruits, the first of three harvest festivals. Baking bread is traditional on this day. Of course, with three-digit heat, I'm not baking anything today! I will have some blackberries for breakfast, though. *g*

I've already been out for a walk this morning, and it's already in the mid-seventies and humid. The gardeners were out pruning the roses at Stanley Park. Smart folks! Get it over with before it gets too steamy.

birthday accomplished

I had a nice day today, all according to plan. After a breakfast of blackberries, I took a nice, refreshing nap. I headed out into the oven that was the outdoors and went to see Lady in the Water. I liked it, and if you like fairytales (and Shyamalan's other movies), you probably will, too. I can see where the criticism comes from, but perhaps I am more easily able to suspend disbelief than others (for better or for worse, and certainly more than the critics).

I made a pork chop and edamame for dinner, and I have to say that Old Bay seasoning works really well with pork. I made myself a mojito, and I have ice cream and more blackberries to look forward to later.

I don't really feel any older, and certainly not 45. I feel more like I'm perpetually 29, although my knees beg to differ. They are, strangely, older than the rest of me.

We had some thunder earlier, but the rain seems to have passed us by. It's slightly cooler, or should I say, less hot. Still, pretty steamy.

On the way home from the movie, I was thinking about how people come into one's life (and vice versa), and how we are affected by them. I've been extraordinarily lucky in the wonderful people that have come into my life, both online and in real life, and I treasure each and every one of you. You all enrich my life immeasurably. Thank you!
