Samhain accomplished

Despite having the makings of a nasty cold, I made it to the coven Samhain last night. I didn't have the energy to make anything fancy (I ended up bringing mashed sweet potatoes), and I forgot to bring pictures for the ancestor altar, but I was there and glad of it. I even took a role in the ritual, at the Harvest Lord's request. Once I was in the temple room, I was mostly OK, although I did have the sniffles. Which was appropriate, as it turns out. I even had an appetite once the excellent feast was laid out, and everything tasted wonderful, especially since I hadn't eaten much more than toast and crackers for two days. It was lovely to see everyone, and sea_dark_wine and justjanus were excellent hosts, as always. The pic is of their cat, Nike, who likes to perch on the beam and look down on all of us (as cats are wont to do).

We finally all got to bed after midnight, and I was up, of course, at the crack of dawn. Didn't get much writing done, just a couple of notes, before the others rose from their slumbers. I didn't have an appetite for breakfast, so I went off to do some errands before meeting the family for brunch. After eating (which tasted good, guess the appetite came back after all), we went up to my sis' condo to look at pix. She finally got her film developed from when our bro was visiting in January. Oh! And said bro is engaged! We're all very happy for him.

After hanging out with them (and getting lots of kitty love from Alex, as usual), went back to mom's where she loaded me up with homemade soup, vitamins, and chocolate from Germany. Lots and lots of chocolate. I'm set for quite a while! Yay, mom.

The drive home was uneventful, but not so much for the eastbound drivers on the Pike. It was backed up for miles on the other side of Sturbridge. Thank goodness I was heading west.

I'm very glad to be home, with several drugs in my system (all perfectly legal, I assure you) and some homemade bean soup for dinner. My head feels like a bowling ball (a drippy one), and my nose is already sore from the tissues. Because I forgot to buy the ones with the lotion in them. I'm not going out again tonight, so I will have to suffer until tomorrow morning.

I see I was one of about five people who actually got to post on LJ yesterday, but y'all have been making up for lost time! Time to catch up now.
