Today's the day I finally get to see my photos in the exhibit! [livejournal.com profile] ami_1 organized a few of our Eastern MA friends to come out here to the wild west; we're meeting at her place before going to downtown Springfield, and then on to Smokin' Lil's for BBQ in Northampton. Some of my local buds are coming to the exhibit, too. I feel so special! *g*

I had an absolutely lovely day, thanks to good friends, good food, and kitty love.

I drove over to [livejournal.com profile] ami_1's place this morning, where she and [livejournal.com profile] spinningwheels entertained me while we waited for the others to arrive. [livejournal.com profile] sea_dark_wine and [livejournal.com profile] justjanus hooked up with [livejournal.com profile] textiletart and [livejournal.com profile] ned_gasket to drive out here, and we all piled into the pleasure barge (spinningwheels' Cadillac) and headed into Springfield.

I had never been to Tower Square; it's a mostly empty, downtown mall (similar to Lafayette Place in Boston). The Valley Photo Center is near the food court, in an old storefront. The exhibit is quite nice, with all sorts of photos in all sizes. I enjoyed looking at them all.

There were a few people there besides us, and they all looked at us curiously as [livejournal.com profile] textiletart posed me in front of my photos. We did get a little silly at one point. ;)

After a while, we decided it was time to go get us some BBQ, so we all piled back into the car and headed to Northampton. It was a chilly, windy walk to Smokin' Lil's, but totally worth it. After hemming & hawing for a bit, I decided on the brisket with hushpuppies and cole slaw. OMG, it was yummy! I even have leftovers. Everyone had something different, and we all enjoyed our piles o' meat.

We bundled up again, and headed back out into the cold. We stopped at an antique shop, where spinningwheels wanted to pick up a blackthorn walking stick he had seen. It amazes me what people will spend money for! All sorts of very strange items in there. Also, two shop dogs wandered around, playing and mixing with the shoppers. It was slightly surreal, but fun.

Back into the car, and back to ami_1's for cookies and tea. Actually, I had cocoa. And then champagne. Hee! I also got lots of kitty love from Amelia. :)

What a wonderful day, with wonderful friends. Thanks, guys, for celebrating with me!
