Flickr has this nifty Stats feature that lets you see how people came to click on your photos. You can see which searches were used, or how many times people clicked on your blog post.
Today, this photo came up in a search for "St. Mary's Church, Westfield" and I clicked on the link to see where it came up on the search page. Yeah, it's the photographer's version of egosurfing. *g*
Imagine my surprise when I saw this very photo come up on the first page, not linked to my Flickr page at all but the blog for the church itself.
I was a little miffed, to say the least. I mean, it's stealing. By a church. So many people don't realize that you can't just take any image you want from the web and use it however you like. I've been trying to get this across to our web designer, but I'm not sure she gets it.
Anyhoo, I sent an email to the contact on the profile page. I said that I would have been glad to give permission if I had been asked, but I was not, so could they please remove the photo.
I mean, really. A church! What would Jesus think? *g*

Go ask Alice
Jan. 27th, 2010 07:34 pm
Soon her eye fell on a little glass box that was lying under the table: she opened it, and found in it a very small cake, on which the words `EAT ME' were beautifully marked in currants. `Well, I'll eat it,' said Alice, `and if it makes me grow larger, I can reach the key; and if it makes me grow smaller, I can creep under the door; so either way I'll get into the garden, and I don't care which happens!'
She ate a little bit, and said anxiously to herself, `Which way? Which way?', holding her hand on the top of her head to feel which way it was growing, and she was quite surprised to find that she remained the same size: to be sure, this generally happens when one eats cake, but Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.
Happy birthday, Lewis Carroll.
