As I was pulling into the parking lot this morning, I was thinking about that turtle and wondering if she'd laid eggs here again this year. As I'm walking across the parking lot to the door, what do I see but a tiny snapping turtle sitting on the pavement! I set down my stuff, took his picture, and carried him over to the edge of the woods. He was a wee thing, maybe 3" across; when I picked him up, he pulled in his head and wrapped his tail around his body.

I looked for more babies, but found none and no evidence of where this one came from. I hope, if there were others, that they all made it safely across the lot!
