Life plods ever onward. Last week, I decided to use up the rest of an Amazon gift card on a decent fountain pen. Neil Gaiman had recommended the Lamy Safari on his Tumblr bog, saying it was a good pen but reasonably priced. He was, of course, correct. I bought the pen and some violet ink refills, picked up an inexpensive faux-leather notebook at the drugstore, and started a new paper journal. It's amazing what comes out when you have the freedom of not writing for anyone but yourself; I had forgotten the nearly lost art of journaling, and it's been refreshingly liberating. I find myself looking forward to just writing whatever comes into my mind, not worrying about structure or storyline or even complete sentences. I love the pen, and I've always favored ink in shades of purple. It makes me feel more creative than blue or black.

Next week, I'm planning to go to NYC to take my cousin

I'm looking forward to a change in scenery, and to hanging out with my fabulous cousin and some of her fabulous friends. It's nice to have something to look forward to.
