I braved the cold and walked down to the park on my lunch break today. I really needed to get outside and get moving, you know? I have to fight my tendency to be a slug when it gets really cold.
There's not a whole lot to look at these days, but there is some pretty, frosty ice.
The pond is almost completely frozen over; there is just a little patch of open water in the middle, and the gulls were congregating around it. They looked mighty chilly, too. Unfortunately, the grey skies made for poor photographic conditions, and I wasn't able to capture that scene. Just picture a bunch of huddled gulls, looking quite put-out, and you'll have the gist.
This week has been very draining, in several different ways, so I'm planning on staying close to home this weekend. I do have to walk downtown tomorrow, but it's supposed to be less cold. Maybe I'll extend my walk a few blocks and hit Dunkin Donuts for a decaf to warm me on the walk back home. ;)
I'm sure those of you who live in Minnesota are laughing at me right now (like I am laughing at my Florida friends who are freaking out that it's in the 50's), but let me just say in my defense that I am not usually such a wuss when it comes to the cold. It's just that it came so suddenly, with no adjustment period. I'm just as bad when it gets hot really suddenly in the summer. I'm not much for extremes of either direction, especially when it hits like a ton of bricks out of nowhere. ;)
