LOL, reminds me of a conversation I had with one of my neighbors after Hurricane Ike.
Those of us who came back early and some who never evacuated were without power for three weeks and without running water for over two weeks.
So we got to know some neighbors we had never met.
One of them commented that they always wondered if anyone lived in our house, because while they occasionally saw a car, the house was always dark.
We moved to where we are to get away from the city light pollution. In my experience lights do not inhibit burglers. And as I have excellent night vision, a bright light at night just annoys me. So we do not leave our porch light on, in fact it only comes on if we are expecting someone, or if someone knocks on the door at night. in addition, as light keeps me awake, we have dark curtains, so even if the lights are on inside, you can not tell from outside.
My husband often mowed the lawn just at sunset, often continueing after dark with a flashlight, since one of his meds made him sun sensitive.
Since we both worked across town, we often left before dawn and returned after dark, expecially if we stopped for dinner along the way which we more often than not did.
Yea we are the spooky dark house on the corner. And being pagan and SCA, a bit weird as well.
