Here's something that I forgot I had: tiny cookie cutters that I bought to cut polymer clay. I haven't played with my clay in a long time. I should remedy that.

I took a nice walk today: down to the library to return a book, over to Amelia Park (which is still locked up), and back home. It wasn't very sunny, but not too cold. Well, comparatively. *g*

A blessed Imbolc to all of you who celebrate, and a happy Groundhog Day to the rest of you. Winter is half over, and (hopefully) the worst part of it is behind us. No matter what Punxatawney Phil saw this morning, there are six weeks until the spring equinox, and a few more than that until we see real spring here in New England. But hey, at least it's not dark when I get out of work now! :)

evidence, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

My hibernation weekend lasted about 36 hours. It warmed up enough today that I gave in to my cabin fever and went for a nice walk. The sun was out, and the wind had died down, so it was a pleasant one. I was actually sweating a little by the time I got home. It felt good.

I was sorry to have missed the coven Imbolc last night, but it was sooooo cold, and I was just exhausted from stress and drama overload, that I just couldn't face going anywhere. I read, dozed, watched Doctor Who and Breakfast at Tiffany's from On Demand, wrote, and dozed some more. It was a good hibernation. I needed it. I'm feeling rested and refreshed.

It's now 13 degrees, Weatherbug tells me, and that's the warmest it's been all day. Oh, and that's Fahrenheit. I wish it were Celsius.

Needless to say, I didn't go anywhere on my lunch break. It's just too frakking cold. There's a wicked wind out there, too, blowing snow around in huge, drifting clouds, and rattling the trees.

This pile of candy was sitting in a dish in the breakroom, and I liked the bright colors on this white, frigid day.

At least the sun is out.

queen of hearts, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

Soon her eye fell on a little glass box that was lying under the table: she opened it, and found in it a very small cake, on which the words `EAT ME' were beautifully marked in currants. `Well, I'll eat it,' said Alice, `and if it makes me grow larger, I can reach the key; and if it makes me grow smaller, I can creep under the door; so either way I'll get into the garden, and I don't care which happens!'

She ate a little bit, and said anxiously to herself, `Which way? Which way?', holding her hand on the top of her head to feel which way it was growing, and she was quite surprised to find that she remained the same size: to be sure, this generally happens when one eats cake, but Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.

Happy birthday, Lewis Carroll.

Most of the flowers from last week's open house are still looking (and smelling) good. It's nice to have flowers in the office. :)

The sun came out for a while today, and it felt good. Winter will be back by the end of the week, so I have to enjoy it while I can!

face on the wall, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

This face is on the Westfield town offices building, down the street from me. I hadn't been able to take a decent picture of it before because I didn't have enough zoom on the old camera. It's still not great, because it's pretty high up, but you can at least see what it looks like. I think it's pretty cool.

The rest of the weekend photos are up now on my Flickr page if you'd like to go take a look.

It was 32 degrees when I left my house this morning, and it was 53 degrees when I got into work. I guess I chased that warm front right across the Pioneer Valley! *g*

Most of the party stuff is out of the office, but the balloons remain. We also have leftovers. I don't know where the beer went, though... I wonder if the publisher took it home? *g*

red staghorn, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

My company had an open house this evening, so I was in the office for nearly 11 hours today. I took a walk down to CVS this afternoon to get out of there for a little while (and pick up some vitamins, which were even on sale!), and this staghorn sumac caught my eye. So fuzzy and red.

two more )

I took a bunch of pictures at the open house, some of which I've uploaded, but I'll post those tomorrow. Unless I take something better.

It actually was rather fun. The food was yummy, and there were cookies and connolis, and wine & beer. I had a Magic Hat #9, and it was kind of fun to be drinking at the office. There have been a few times when I wished I could do that. *g*

I retreated to my desk for a few moments because it was hot in the art room, and my mom chose that moment to call me. I told her where I was, but did that stop her? No, she chattered on as usual. *g*

I left at 7:00, after a few other coworkers had left and I figured it was safe. Last time, I stayed and helped clean up, so I figured it was someone else's turn.

Tired now. *yawn*

We're having an open house here at the office tomorrow for customers, and they've been frantically tidying up and decorating all day. There were fresh flowers, and I've missed taking pictures of flowers, so I wandered around enjoying them and snapping away.

election day, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

I went out into the slushy rain to vote this morning. I even walked to the polls. There were a few other folks there voting, and I overheard one of the volunteers say that they've had a good turnout.

I sincerely hope that Martha Coakley wins today, despite the fact that she's not the candidate I would like to have seen win the primary. The alternative is so much worse. I really hate having to vote for the lesser of two evils, but a lot of the time, that's what it comes down to. Our system is imperfect at best, but it's what we have, and we must participate for it to work at all.

another picture, this one having nothing to do with the election )

Oh, and guess what? I actually slept in until almost 9:00 this morning! That's probably only because I fell asleep during Heroes last night, and then was awake until almost midnight. But still! Not the crack of dawn for a change!
