lizziebelleOn my walk around Heritage Park today, I came across this Great Blue Heron, which promptly took off as soon as I got close enough to get a decent picture. He's a bit shy.
These birds always remind me of my grandfather; when I was 4 or 5, I saw one in the creek behind my grandparents' farmhouse, and it was glowing (it must have been in the sun or something). I remember Grandpa telling me what kind of bird it was, and ever since, I've thought of him whenever I've seen one.
I also associate chickadees with him, since he taught me their song when I was little. They always make me smile. :)
