Samhain musings

This was the sunrise this morning as I was driving to work. It was so pretty, and the valley (which I couldn't get into the shot) was all misty, so I pulled over and took this picture.
Soon after getting to work, I came to the realization that I am coming down with a cold. Well, poo. Took drugs, drank lots of tea (herbal), had soup for lunch, and I'm feeling marginally better this afternoon. I guess it will be an early bedtime tonight. It's a good thing I don't get trick-or-treaters!
I've been fighting this off for a week now, and I guess the disrupted sleep patterns and stress finally caught up to me. I think I was sick this time last year, too, if I remember correctly. Sheesh!
I'll be thinking about those loved ones who have gone on before me tonight. I always set out a plate for them, and light candles around the house. Well, apartment. ;)
I'll also be thinking about goals for the new year*, which basically boil down to having a better year than the last one. I'll also think about all the good things that have happened to me in the past year, because there were a lot of them. Mustn't lose sight of that. The bad things tend to weigh more heavily, but I can't let them overwhelm the good. I have a lot of wonderful friends, and family, both blood and chosen.
Blessed Samhain to all of you!
