big storms

lizziebelleThe promised spectacular thunderstorms did arrive last night, and they were indeed big 'uns! My power went out immediately, but I was already in bed, so I got to lay in the dark and listen to the wind and thunder. I heard a tree come down, and hoped that it hadn't fallen on my car. It hadn't - this is one of my neighbors' car. My car is just to the left of this scene. I had to drive over the top of the tree to get out of the lot, and how many times can anyone say that? *g*
The power was back on this morning, but I had set the alarm on my cell phone just in case the battery backup on my clock radio didn't do its thing. It did, but at the wrong time. It was just as well; we had a company meeting this morning, so having the extra time was a good thing.
The schools in my town are closed today, I can only assume because the power isn't back on everywhere. Several other schools are closed as well. I saw limbs, branches, and leaves all over the roads this morning.
I'm very thankful that my car didn't get squished, and that things weren't worse!
