made it out

I wrapped myself in layers, and made it out of the cave for a bit this afternoon. It was still bloody cold, but bright & sunny. Not quite up to walking down to the wildlife sanctuary, I headed through the cemetery and over to Grandmothers' Garden, where winter is tightening its hold, but hasn't quite taken over.
The flower beds are mostly dormant now.

A few hardy mums are still hanging in there, though.

The rose bushes are mostly bare, except for a few leaves and rosy hips.

Oak leaves and lily pads are frozen into the ice on the pond.

The ice is so clear, it looks like it's frozen solid. I wouldn't dare walk out onto it, though!

There was ice on the outer area around the pond, too.

On the way out, the magnolia tree promised me that spring would come again.

It felt good to get out and get moving.
