I went to a local park with Flickr friend Rusty today, where we found further evidence of spring on a nice walk in beautiful weather.

We were talking about snakes (a coworker had asked me a few days ago if I was afraid of coming across them, to which I replied "No! I love snakes!") when we came across this little guy, who sat still for us so we could snap away with our cameras.

I think he was probably still a bit sluggish from just waking up, because he just sat there, even when we inched closer to get a better shot.

While we were kneeling down to look at some plants, I spotted this bright green bug (which I had thought was a plant shoot coming up):

It's a pretty little park, with bridges, streams, waterfalls, train tracks, and the Westfield River (which is really high right now).

There were lots of people walking their dogs, including a cute pair of Boston Terriers who wouldn't hold still long enough for me to get a picture, and a wonderful English Sheepdog named Yankee that Rusty photographed with me.

I was only able to upload a few pix, because iPhoto was overwhelmed by how many I had taken, so I'll do the rest tomorrow at work.

After a snack, I went down to Stanley Park and found some snowdrops in bloom, which I will also post tomorrow. I was a little alarmed that they had ripped out all the shrubbery around both the barn and the meetinghouse, but it did make the daffodils stand out more. There were buds on some of them; I think by the weekend or early next week, we'll have some daffodils in bloom as well.

What a perfect, springlike day! I'm so glad I got to enjoy it. :D
