wanderings

I had a rather long walk today, and even though it was still chilly, it felt good.
Grandmothers' Garden has been put to bed for the winter, but there are a few bright spots there.
There was some ice on the pond.
The kitty in the shop window was awake today, and a woman inside tried to get her to pose for me.
Next door, the nine-year-old in me saw what she wanted to ask Santa for.
I wandered down toward the bridges, where the church looked imposing in the sunshine and shade.
The dike going in the other direction had a new path surface, at least for part of it, so I decided to see how far it went.
It went rather far, as a matter of fact, although the new path petered out after a bit. I passed lots of houses, one of which had chickens in the backyard, but they were in the shade so I couldn't get a picture.
Eventually, I passed a cornfield with dried cornstalks still standing in rows.
The dike came to an end, and I came out pretty much where I thought I would.
It was nice to see a different part of town for a change.
