shining armor

I went with sea_dark_wine and
justjanus to the Higgins Armory Museum in Worcester yesterday to look at, well, armor. It was interesting and fun.
It's a big, square building that has 4 floors of arms and armor. The top floor is open on the side and looks down at the third floor, which is a vaulted gallery.
It's amazing how many ways man has come up with to kill and maim. The collection of swords and pikes is quite impressive, though not laid out in a manner that photographs well.
At the end of the month there will be a Viking display, and they hold roller jousts, which I was told by the gal at the desk is indeed how it sounds: people jousting on roller skates. Sounds fun as well as dangerous. *g*
