Newport

I went down to Newport yesterday with my friend B to visit C, who lost everything in a fire recently. We took him some clothing, toiletries, and gift cards, and spent a very pleasant afternoon tooling around the lovely city of Newport. I definitely need to spend some more time there.

Pictured above is the Carey Mansion, which fans of the original Dark Shadows may recognize as the exterior of Collinwood. The pic was taken through a gap in the hedge, as it is a private residence.


We then headed down to the cliffs, where this sign warned us of danger:



It's pretty darned spectacular. It's no mystery why the robber barons built their "cottages" there.







It was a spectacular day all 'round.



I highly recommend visiting Newport. It was just what we needed. :)

Thanks! It was a very dramatic day, with alternating sunshine and billowing clouds. But yes, finally some sunshine! :)

Thanks, honey! He'll be needing more stuff when he eventually gets an apartment, like furniture. I'll post something here or on Facebook when that happens. :)

It belatedly occurred to me that we have more than one Newport over here (I suspect you do too) and the Newport on the Isle of Wight is more splendid and prosperous and therefore probably a better comparison. :)
