Last night was the coven Beltane, and it was just what the doctor ordered. We had a much smaller crowd than usual, but it was still lively and fun for all. :)
I had found a new soda for the punch: Polar Pomegranate Dry. OMG, yum! It's a rather startling shade of bright red, but then so are pomegranate seeds. And it made the punch extremely yummy. Even better than raspberry ginger ale!
While we were tying our ribbons onto the maypole during the ritual, I didn't want to lose the energy momentum we had been building (this was an issue for me last year), so I started swaying back & forth. I found myself wishing I had a drum, so I started tapping out a beat with my hands on my thighs, and to my surprise (and delight!) others joined in, and we had a nice little body drumming set going. It really helped build the energy, so that by the time all the ribbons were on the pole, we were really raring to go. It was quite a lively dance!
During cakes & wine,
leenah asked if we should sing now, and then we all sang "The Rattlin' Bog." That's always great fun. If you're not familiar with it, it's along the lines of "There's a hole in the bottom of the sea," with something added on each verse. Except this one is rated PG-13. *g* It's also similar to the song in the maypole scene in Wicker Man. (Hmmm, maybe I'll watch that tonight!)
Thank you to
leenah for the lovely necklace! It really lifted my spirits. (Is it adventurine?)
Thanks also to
resourceress for the massage!
More Beltane festivities today, at the barn in Grafton. Woo!
