We had a meeting last night to talk about the Renaissance Faire we're doing in June. This is so exciting! We've been talking about it for months, but somehow it suddenly feels real. Mike posted announcements on several lists, and we've already had several responses from potential vendors & performers. Woo hoo! I'm in charge of entertainment. That means I have to solicit, organize, and generally wrangle people who want to perform at the Faire. I had a little experience wrangling performers at the SEF coffeehouse, I guess that was good practice! Fortunately, I'm part of several communities that include performers. I'm going to milk them all!

At first, I didn't think this was something we could pull off. But now I think it's going to be really good! And something to look forward to during these dark, cold days.

This weekend is the coven Imbolc. I like that one. It's the one we call "the kitchen sink ritual" because we do include so much in it. History, mythology, and the descent of the goddess to boot. The theme of the feast, as usual, is 'comfort foods.' I have to make my meatloaf; my HPS would be so disappointed if I didn't! And of course, mashed potatoes to go with it. Can't have meatloaf without mashed potatoes. Wouldn't really be comfort food, would it?

I love what people come up with for the themed feasts. The first year we did this, we had PBJ sandwiches (with the crusts cut off, natch), jello, mac & cheese, and stuff like that. People get so creative! I think we welcome opportunities this time of year to get creative with food.

It's 21 degrees here in East Longmeadow. It's actually supposed to get above freezing this weekend! I am so looking forward to that. I'm so sick & tired of getting all bundled up just to go outside. I've had enough of winter, thankyouverymuch. Enough!

I'm getting calls from some entertaining customers this afternoon. Just spoke with one who's giving away a rolltop desk. A woman called me a little while ago wanting to sell a tall, light-colored wood piece of furniture (bar? buffet? something like that) and she came up with the headline: "Tall, blonde & gorgeous." I love it! I like the fun ones. Breaks up the monotony of painters & cleaners & such whose ads all sound pretty much the same.

I'm looking forward to this workweek being over. Just ten more minutes! Gotta get gas & groceries on the way home. Then it's hunkering in for the night.

Went to Starbucks on my lunch today. I had to go to the bank to get quarters for laundry, then CVS for windshield washer fluid, and it was right there, so of course I had to go in for a Chantico. If you haven't tried one of these yet, I urge you to do so. I don't care that Starbucks is the Evil Empire, get one! It's like a melted chocolate truffle. So anyway. The kid behind the counter was cute, in a Clark Kent sort of way, and he was flirting with me. That made my day. Chocolate and flirting, all in one place. Gotta love it.
