nice weekend
Jan. 30th, 2005 09:05 pmWinding down now from a lovely weekend. For a change. This is the first weekend since New Year's that I actually went somewhere (besides shopping). Last night was the coven Imbolc. We had a nice turnout, and a splendiferous feast. The theme was "comfort foods," and we had them in abundance! From banana bread to meatloaf to chicken & dumplings, and everything in between. Oh yes, and mashed potatoes. Everyone loved my meatloaf. I don't know if that's a good thing, that I can make good meatloaf. Smacks of domestication, which I try to avoid.
Had a nice, quiet breakfast of sourdough toast & leftover banana bread this morning with the HPs and their cat. Then it was off to Mom's. She took me out to brunch at Peppercorns, where I had blueberry pancakes. Yum! Then she took me to Auto Zone to get wiper blades, which neither of us could figure out how to change. Sheesh! She loaded me down with stuff from the freezer (salmon, bean soup, corn on the cob), and then I went over to my sister's for a quick visit. Unfortunately, Willow the wonder niece wasn't there. They finally have email.
It was 42 degrees in Canton this afternoon. It's the first day in about 3 weeks that it got above freezing. It felt great! I wore my leather coat, with no hat. I was getting pretty sick of getting all bundled up!
The drive home was uneventful, except for the basketball hoop in the middle of the pike somewhere around Ware. I saw the truck it fell off, too, when I got off in Westfield. Big flatbed with all sorts of junk on it. Dork!
There's no new Desperate Housewives on tonight, so I think it's early to bed for me. I'm feeling a little icky; I have all this food in the house, and none of it was appetizing. I had some yogurt and toast. I'd better not be getting sick! I've been around enough germs the past few days. Better take an extra dose of echinacea before I head off to bed.
