I thought today would be a good day to go grocery shopping. Silly me! So did everyone else. I guess the rain yesterday delayed everyone's plans. So not only was the store crowded, but a lot of the shelves were empty or nearly so. To top it off, I got in line behind one of those people; she actually sent the bag boy off in search of something she couldn't find. There was a woman behind me, and I told her to go to the next lane because it was empty. As she was unloading her items, she peeked over the divider and said "ha ha!" and I giggled. She said at least I could laugh about it. I am resigned to the fact that I will always get into the wrong line. Always. If I'd changed lines, there would have been a problem there. Somehow it's my karma.

I had to clean out & rearrange the freezer before I could put away what I'd bought. Found stuff that had been in there way too long. I always have the best intentions when it comes to leftovers, but they usually get freezer burn (or become science experiments) before I can eat them.

Hey, they have whole grain Fig Newtons now! This is one fad I'm happy about. Low fat, low carb, meh... but whole grain is good. And Fig Newtons! Yum. Did you know they're called that because the machine that makes them was invented in Newton, MA? It was almost our state cookie, but was beat out by Toll House cookies, invented by accident in Brockton. I can't believe our state legislature actually wasted time deciding what the state cookie should be.

Apparently the flooding has been really bad this weekend. Part of route 91 in CT was closed yesterday because it was flooded. I'd seen the signs that it was closed, but I didn't know why. Bridges are washed out all over the place. I'm very glad I live on high ground!

Looks like there's some sort of walk-a-thon going on; I saw clusters of people walking up & down my street. It's very breezy & cool out today, but hey-- it's not raining! I'm planning to go for a nice long walk later myself.
