lizziebelle: (OMG ONOZ)
We seem destined to get buried in snow this afternoon. I was stressing about it this morning, until I realized that I could probably leave early, thus avoiding the worst of it. When I got into the office, the big boss came 'round and said that if anyone wanted to leave early, it's not a problem. Hooray! So I'm planning to leave around noon; earlier if the snow starts earlier than forecast.

Of course, this reminds me of the time, back when I was in high school, that the weather dudes on all the channels were warning of a huge storm coming. I lived in western NY then, in the lea of Lake Ontario, known for lots and lots of snow. "Get out of the city now!" they warned, so businesses & schools sent everyone home early. The roads were deserted.

We didn't get a single flake of snow.

I don't think that's going to happen today. But the memory always pops up at these times, and makes me chuckle. *g*

Whew! I am so glad *that* commute is over. I left the office around 12:25, got home around 2:15. As you can see, they haven't yet plowed our lot. I wasn't entirely sure I was going to make it over the snowplow hump, but the Pirate Hyundai came through.

Traffic was at a crawl the whole way home, because everyone else left early as well. Which is OK; at least they weren't going too fast to be able to stop. There's always an idiot in an SUV who thinks he can go 45, not thinking about how long it'll take him to brake.

There were good tunes on the radio, which I happily sang along to. Now, there is hot cocoa.

Stay safe & warm, all!
